THE NEW MIRACLES OF REBOUND EXERCISE by Albert E. Carter
"It looks too simple to be any good."
That is probably the biggest argument against it. How could anything so simple be so good for you?
If rebound exercise was a little more complicated or caused greater discomfort, like other accepted modes of exercise, it would probably be more popular because we have come to expect that from our exercises. But it is simple, and it doesn't cause pain. The fact is, it just happens to be the most effective way to efficiently tap three major forces simultaneously... forces that have not previously been considered when we exercise.
We invite you to become one of the thousands who, each month, are discovering this unique method of eliminating bone-jarring, sometimes crippling shock, to their weight-bearing joints and still achieving their aerobic requirements. As you consider rebounding, you will begin to understand how some of our best athletes are using rebounding to hone their individual athletic skills. But, unlike many other exercise methods, rebounding is not just for the athlete. Rather, it is universal in scope; from the pregnant lady, to the muscle-bound athlete, to the overweight, out-of-shape executive. We also include a word on therapeutic rebounding, because we have found rebound exercise to be an excellent tool for those who are not able to exercise in conventional, or accepted ways.
It was not too long ago, say mid '70s, if you saw somebody running in the middle of a busy city, it was because the police were after him. In fact, it was just before Dr. Kenneth Cooper introduced us to the word 'aerobics'. That was the beginning of the exercise explosion. Accountants, bankers, doctors and other blue and white collar workers could now calculate 'aerobic points'. Nike of Beaverton, Oregon invented the 'spikeless running shoe' and America was off to the races. Marathons and ten-K's here we come! We have been running ever since, although there is good evidence showing that running is not what it was supposed to be - a utopian exercise.
This book is not being written to run down running, weight lifting, aerobic dance, calisthenics, or any other form of exercise. We choose not to run down other activities simply because it is not necessary. If your type of exercise is injurious, ineffective, or inconvenient you'll find out soon enough. When you do, you'll be looking around for something to take its place because, most of the time, people are healthier, happier and feel better about themselves and the rest of their world when they are involved with a good exercise program. At the very least, you will find that rebounding is an excellent adjunct to your already ongoing exercise program.
